BIOGRAPHY
I obtained my PhD in Plasma Physics from the University of Seville (Spain) in 1995.
I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (1995-1997) for more than two years in the Non Equilibrium Phenomena Group coordinated by Professor Joseph A. Kunc at the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering of the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles. I was a visiting scientist at the University of Bochum (Germany) in 2005 and 2006.
Between 1998 and 2000, I was a Research Scientist at the Materials Science Institute of Madrid (ICMM) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) where I was involved in plasma material processing with MW, RF and ECR reactors. In this period I was in charged of the modelling and diagnosis of non-equilibrium hydrocarbon plasmas generated with different low pressure plasma material processing techniques.
By the end of 2000, I moved to the Institute of Optics (IO) of the CSIC in Madrid where, between 2001 and 2006, I worked as a Research Scientist in modelling and spectroscopy of plasmas generated by lasers in Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) systems used for plasma processing of nanostructure materials of interest in several photonic applications.
In June 2004, I got a tenured scientist position at the CSIC in Madrid.
Since 2007, I have been working in the physics and chemistry of Transient Luminous Events (TLEs) plasmas occurring in the mesosphere of the Earth.
By the end of 2008 I moved to the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalucía (IAA) of the CSIC in Granada where I work in transient plasmas in planetary atmospheres.
Since 2008 I have participated in working groups at ISSI (Bern) and have been a visiting scientist in several institutions (MIT, St. Andrews University, etc).
